Permanent Exterior Lighting Installation in Niskayuna

We mount low-voltage LED lighting in a color-matched aluminum track under your roofline, so you stop climbing ladders every December. The lights stay up year-round, run from an app, and are installed with fall protection, tested connections and a weatherproof power setup.

Lights that stay up, so nobody has to climb for them

Permanent lighting is a row of individually addressable LED nodes set inside a low-profile aluminum channel. The channel fastens to the fascia or the underside of the gutter line and comes finished to match your trim. With the lights off, it blends into the eave and is hard to pick out from the sidewalk. Once the sun goes down, you choose white, color or a pattern from an app-controlled box mounted near the outlet.

The safety argument is simple. Hanging seasonal lights means ladder work on cold, sometimes frosty fascia, year after year. Install once, done properly, and that yearly climb disappears. The system also runs on low-voltage DC after the power supply, which means the wiring along the roof carries far less risk than a string of plug-in holiday lights daisy-chained through a window.

Our company carries both a license and insurance, and five years of roofline work have settled us into one fixed routine: ladders secured, harness work where the pitch calls for it, no fasteners through shingles, and every splice sealed before it goes into the track.

What the installation includes

Roofline layout and measurement

We walk the eaves, gables and peaks, measure each run and decide where power enters. Corners and inside angles get planned connectors so the light spacing stays even.

Color-matched aluminum track

The channel is fastened into solid fascia board with stainless screws. It sits behind the drip edge line where it is shielded from falling ice and stays out of sight from the street.

LED nodes and sealed wiring

Nodes are rated for outdoor exposure and clipped into the track at a set spacing. Wire runs are kept off the roof surface, and every connection is sealed against water and freeze-thaw movement.

Power supply and controller

The low-voltage power supply and controller mount near an existing exterior GFCI outlet with an in-use cover. If no suitable outlet exists, we tell you before quoting, because adding one is separate electrical work.

App setup and a walkthrough

Once the controller is on your home network, we build a handful of scenes with you and program on and off times. Before we leave, we show everyone in the house how to change colors or shut the lights down.

Signs permanent lighting is the right call

  • Someone climbs every November

If a family member hangs lights on a ladder each fall, that is the risk this removes. Two-story eaves and steep pitches are where most falls start.

  • Clips and staples are damaging trim

Years of plastic clips and staples leave split fascia and lifted shingle edges. A fixed track uses fewer, properly placed fasteners in solid wood.

  • Extension cords across the yard

Cords run through doors or windows, or plugged into outlets without covers, are a shock and trip hazard in wet snow. A single protected power point cleans that up.

  • You want light beyond December

Warm white for evenings, team colors on game day, a gentle glow along the home exterior through long winter nights. Curb appeal does not have to be seasonal.

How install day runs

  1. 1

Free quote by phone, then a site look

It starts with a phone call. We go over the style of the house, which edges you want lit and how you plan to use the lights, then visit to check the roofline, fascia condition and power source before writing up the quote.

  2. 2

    Safety setup

Ladders are footed and tied off, stabilizers keep them off the gutters, and we use harnesses on steep or high runs. Walkways and plantings under the work area are kept clear.

  3. 3

    Track and lights go up

We fasten the track, feed the node strand and seal each connection. Most single-family homes are finished in one working day.

  4. 4

    Testing and handover

Every node is tested for color and response before we leave, and we clean up screws, offcuts and packaging. Then we set up the app with you.

What moves the price

We price each house from its own measurements instead of a set bundle. Two things weigh most: the length of roofline being lit and the effort it takes to reach it safely. Each part of the job appears as its own line on the written quote, so nothing is buried.

Linear footage
We measure the track and node strand foot by foot, and the quote follows that number. A single run across the street-facing side comes in well under a job that wraps every eave and gable.
Height and roof pitch
Second- and third-story runs and steep pitches take more safety rigging and more time. Single-story ranches are the simplest.
Fascia condition
Track needs solid wood behind it. Soft or rotted fascia has to be addressed first, and we show you photos if we find it.
Power and controller location
A nearby GFCI outlet keeps things simple. Long wire runs or the need for a new outlet add to the job.

Common questions on roofline lighting

Something not covered here? (518) 832-5306

Can you see the track in daylight?

Barely. The channel is roughly an inch wide, finished in a color that matches your trim, and tucked up under the roof edge. Most neighbors only notice it once the nodes light up.

How does it hold up to snow and ice?

The nodes and track are rated for outdoor use through cold winters. We mount the track behind the drip edge line so sliding snow and ice pass over it rather than catching it, and connections are sealed against meltwater.

Do you drill into my roof?

No. Fasteners go into the fascia board, not through shingles or roof decking. That keeps the roof covering intact and avoids creating leak points.

Is the system safe to leave on overnight?

Yes. LEDs run cool and the roofline wiring carries low-voltage DC from a supply plugged into a GFCI-protected outlet. You can also set schedules in the app so the lights shut off at a set time.

Do you install outside Niskayuna?

We do. We work in Niskayuna and nearby towns including Clifton Park, Schenectady, Glenville and Rotterdam. Call and tell us where the house is.
